2019 Kumbh Mela will be held in Allahabad over a course of 48 days during January 15 to March 4. Indian Railways has proposed to run Kumbh Mela special trains to manage extra rush of pilgrims.
North Central Railway official said that six special trains will come to Allahabad from different railway zones of the country for pilgrims and tourists participating in the Kumbh Mela. NCR has also planned to operate four to five special trains to ferry 5,000 Pravasi Bhartiyas from Allahabad to New Delhi. They will be in Allahabad to participate in the Kumbh Mela after attending the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas at Varanasi.
The North Central Railway (NCR) has launched a mobile application also that will help pilgrims arriving in Allahabad for the Kumbh Mela. The ‘Rail Kumbh Seva Mobile App’ will provide information regarding all the ‘Mela special’ trains that will be run during the period.
