The traditional Baruni Mela of the Matuas is starting in Thakurnagar from Thursday, March 26. Like every year, the fair committee is expecting a huge turnout of devotees for the holy bath. Therefore, the railways have announced to run special trains for the convenience of devotees to go to the fair. Apart from Bengal, Matua devotees from different states come to attend this fair. According to railway sources, special trains have been started keeping them in mind. The fair will continue for seven days. The railways have announced that a total of 8 local trains and four special mail trains will be run during the fair.
According to railway sources, in addition to eight local trains up to Thakurnagar on the occasion of Baruni Mela, four special mail and express trains will be run from Kathgodam, Lamding, Jagdalpur and Alipur Duar. Four up and four down local trains will run from Thakurnagar to Gede, Lalgol, Canning and Namkhana. According to the schedule, special local trains will leave for Thakurnagar from Gede at 6.45 am, from Lalgola at 4.50 am, from Canning at 6.35 am and from Namkhana at 5 am on Thursday, March 26. On March 27, the trains will leave Thakurnagar at 4.35 pm, 3.45 pm, 5 pm and 4.05 pm respectively.
In terms of express trains, two special trains will depart from Kathgodam at 10 am on March 26 and from Jagdalpur to Thakurnagar at 8 am. Two more special trains will depart from Kesinga at 4.10 pm on March 27.
